Pet Care Experience:
20 years of experience with pet care, holistic health care, handling and rescue. I've
written and appeared in several articles relating to animal
neglect and exploitation. Was instrumental in getting the
Elizabeth, New Jersey pound to stop its abuse of sheltered
animals. Initial article written for Elizabeth Reporter led
to another article in the Newark Star Ledger. The
aftermath of the articles resulted in an interview on Channel 9
UPN News. Here I commented on the conditions at the pound, the
ongoing neglect as well as the animals I and several others had
removed.
In
addition to the pound project, I spent 7 years working in the
Elizabeth, NJ area. 167 dogs were rescued and with the
assistance of other rescue groups, homes were found for all of
them. Having fallen in love with Daphne immediately, she became
my pet and having had to rehabilitate Buddy from a burnt pup
found in a garbage can to where she is now, I could never have
given her up. Both of my loves are now gone.

Introducing
Tey-ha which is Native American for Precious. She is my
new dog. I found her on Petfinder. She and her two
sisters were in a high kill shelter in Kentucky at the age of 6
weeks until a wonderful rescue took them in. All three
have since been adopted. She was transported from Tennessee to
NJ on February 2, 2009 at 6 months old and she is a terrific
dog. After having taken care of Daphne and Buttons for so
long with their serious illnesses, I am having fun having a
young, energetic dog. We walk 2 miles a day and are in beginning
obedience. If you have not had the opportunity to
meet her, you will as she comes to work with me everyday except
Saturdays.

Friends,
I have now lost the last of my 7 dogs. I had to put my
poor Buttons to sleep on Saturday. For those of you who
did not know her story, I will be posting it on a separate page
as my journey with her intricate care has been a long one.
She was a very courageous pup and an inspiration to many; she
had cancer in her paw pad which ate her foot away. For me,
it was daily cleaning, bandaging, supplements, pain pills for
her; she had Cushings Disease and over the past weeks, she
developed Pulmonary Edema which caused her to begin suffering;
labored breathing then she refused to eat. Once again, I had to
make the terrible decision to end her suffering . I
loved my little girl. I can only hope all of my dogs are
together now and will wait for me to come to them when it is my
time. Thank you for your sympathies.

Daphne
went to the bridge on February 21, 2005. She was the love
of my life and the light of my soul. For those of you that
saw her in the shop, you knew of my very close bond with
her. She was in so much pain which she fought 8 times. She
just couldn't bear to leave me but it was finally
time to let her go. She is now at peace .
